Cold Storage Apparel & Gifts was born out of my love for my home town North Truro and my love of T-shirts.
I'm always looking for a good quality t-shirt pertaining to Truro but have never been able to find one that interests me design wise. To that end I figured, "Hey, why not design your own?"
In thinking about my designs I gravitated toward my youthful days spent on Cold Storage Beach with my family. It's where you would see your neighbors and your friends. It was a place for the community to gather. I fondly remember ditching my swimming lessons provided through Truro Recreation to hide behind the iconic Tramway. For those of you that aren't familiar with the Tramway, it was built in the 1940s and was used to haul fish in from Cape Cod Bay to the cold storage warehouse. The tramway was removed in 1997.
While I spent considerable time exploring it at low tide, I never had the courage to dive off it, but would watch with excitement as others did.
With that nostalgia in mind I started to design using an image of the Tramway. Pretty niche, but the image has always captivated me. From there I decided to create Cold Storage Apparel & Gifts.
Currently, my products are specific to North Truro, but I plan on expanding to other Cape towns. But for now, my focus is where my heart is, my hometown of Truro.
